| The Mission of Shanghai Young Bakers |
|
Shanghai Young Bakers is a project, started by a group of volunteers, that
aids young Chinese orphans (as identified by our partner NGO's) train in French
bakery techniques to obtain an equivalent Chinese diploma known as the Xi Dian
Mian Shi.
This social innovation project capitalizes on the needs of the Chinese
labor market and implements the principle of learning by action. This enables
the young people to integrate in society and learn a rewarding career by joining
leading hotel groups or bakery distribution sectors.
"Give an orphan some
bread, you feed him for a day. Teach an orphan how to make bread, you make him
a baker for life!"

More
than two years ago, Shanghai Young Bakers was founded by a passionate team of
volunteers who brought their positive mentalities, their know-how, their
network, and their diversity... with the shared goal to strengthen and help
their community, they've given their time and energy for the support of a noble
cause: helping young Chinese orphans train for a promising future
career.
It's everyone's involvement in this project that creates its
success.
